With today's technology we can reduce global warming by reducing our demand on fossil fuels.

I am very pessimistic about global warming too.
2012 is coming on its way.
Everyone should do something.

Jason - you are missing the obvious but difficult solution - depopulation - a global movement towards negative population growth.

I wouldn't bother worrying about the sea levels rising. There'll just be more water on land evaporating, making more clouds which in turn will cool the planet. There will be more water in the atmosphere if the planet heats up, and more storms, no sea level rise tho...

I agree. Intelligent discussion would be a great idea. I, for one, would not mind a carbon tax, since it makes more sense than a cap-and-trade system, but people usually reflexively turn against any sort of tax.

The problem is that people that are most impassioned about global warming are usually morons when it comes to the basics of economics or even math. They also seem to forget that there are another 5 billion people on this planet who are not Americans or Europeans.

I've heard of Lomborg's first book, but haven't heard of the 2nd. Thanks for the tip, MC!

Interesting -- had not heard of the albedo solution before. Your conclusion about the Kyoto protocol is not too far off from Bjorn Lomborg's (author of "The Skeptical Environmentalist" and "Cool It"). I wish there was more engagement with and discussion of his analysis and proposed solutions in the whole global warming discussion.
